About

Kathleen Ujdak has written extensively for concert band in addition to numerous works for orchestra, small ensemble, solo piano, and chorus. She has also completed more than twenty arrangements of cinematic works for flute choir. She began composing in 2010, and her catalog of works has expanded dramatically in the last several years. Her full catalog is published exclusively by Lofti Music.

Ujdak received her bachelors degree from the University of Notre Dame, where she served as guest composer and conductor of the University of Notre Dame Flute Choir, which commissioned several of her wind ensemble works. Her works have also been performed by the university’s Composers Consortium, with Ujdak as guest conductor. She has appeared in concert across the United States and internationally in Australia and New Zealand. In 2017, she received the University of Notre Dame Marching Band’s prestigious Blue Diamond Shamrock Award. She also holds a Semper Fidelis Award for Musical Excellence from the United States Marine Corps.

One of the Midwest’s youngest rising composers, Ujdak has an impressive catalog that features both a core repertoire of traditional styles and an exciting variety of less-common instruments. Her pieces are poetic and visual, each illustrating a particular scene for the listener. Her works have been noted for their creative use of mood and color and their dramatic solo lines. Ujdak enjoys composing at her home in Wisconsin, where she lives with her husband and their dog.
